Francesca Castellani is an associate professor of History of Contemporary Art at Università Iuav di Venezia. She serves on the College Board of the Scuola doctorale inter-ateneo Cà Foscari-Iuav. She is also a journalist and art critic. Castellani has curated several exhibitions and edited numerous books on 19th- and 20th-century art in Italy and France, focusing in particular on Impressionism (Manet, Degas, De Nittis, Zandomeneghi). Her research interests include, among others, the history of the Venice Biennale, art and literature, and Orientalism. She is the coordinator of Visualizing Venice’s Biennale project
