Gianmario Guidarelli is an adjunct professor of at the Università di Padova, where he teaches architectural and urban history, concentrating on the fields of Italian Medieval architecture and Renaissance Venetian architecture. He is the director of the project “Chiese di Venezia, Isole e Terraferma Veneziana” (Studium Generale Marcianum-Marcianum Press) and a research fellow at the Università Iuav di Venezia. Guidarelli graduated from the Istituto Universitario di Venezia (now Università Iuav di Venezia) and earned a Ph.D. in architectural and urban history at the School of Advanced Studies in Venice Foundation. He has published a book on the architecture of the Scuola Grande di San Rocco in Venice and several articles about the urban and architectural history of Venice, religious architecture in the Renaissance, and the Cathedral of Naples, which was the topic of his Ph.D. dissertation. He has worked as a teaching assistant at Duke University and as lecturer at the universities of Venice and Bergamo. Guidarelli has been involved in Visualizing Venice since 2010. His research is focused on the Civic Hospital in Venice and on the architecture of the Venice synagogues.
