Valentina Buttolo is a postdoctoral research fellow at the Università Iuav di Venezia where she is working on VISU, a project intent on visualizing urban space through the application of analytical and digital methods to iconographic and cartographic heritage. Buttolo graduated from the Università Iuav di Venezia in Architecture for Conservation in 2009 with a thesis on the survey of buildings affected by the earthquake in the city of L’Aquila. She received a Ph.D. in Geomatics at the Politecnico di Milano in 2014 with a dissertation on the development of a low cost instrument for structural monitoring.
She has worked with the Iuav Photogrammetry Lab since 2008 in the field of surveying, using topographic, photogrammetric, and laser scanner techniques. She has also participated in several Iuav research projects, focusing, in particular, on digital surveys for cultural heritage.
