She is former chair-professor of Urban History at the Universit\u00e0 Iuav di Venezia and has served as visiting professor at the EHSS of Paris, at the British Academy, at University of Leicester, of Leuven, of Sao Paulo (Brasil), and at the MSH of Tokyo. She has been president of the European Association of Urban Historians (EAUH) and of the Italian Association of Urban History (AISU), and Team Leader of the group on Cities and Cultural Exchanges of the European Science Foundation. From 2002 to 2010 she directed the International Ph.D. Program on History of Arts of the School for Advanced Studies in Venice Foundation.<br \/>\nCalabi\u2019s research focuses on town planning between the 19th and the 20th centuries. She has published <em>Marcel Po\u00ebte et le Paris des ann\u00e9es Vingt<\/em>, Paris 1998; <em>Storia dell&#8217;urbanistica europea<\/em>, Milan 2008; as well as a number of books on the early modern European city, including <em>Rialto: le fabbriche e il ponte<\/em>, Turin 1987; <em>La citt\u00e0 degli ebrei<\/em>, Venice 1991\/1996; <em>Il mercato e la citt\u00e0<\/em>, Venice 1993 (revised in English as <em>The Market and the City,<\/em> London: Ashgate 2004); <em>Piazze fabbriche, mercati. La citt\u00e0 italiana del Rinascimento<\/em>, Rome 1997; <em>Venise<\/em>, Paris 1999; <em>Les Etrangers dans la ville<\/em>, Paris 1999; <em>La citt\u00e0 del primo Rinascimento<\/em>, Rome 2001; <em>Storia della citt\u00e0. Et\u00e0 moderna<\/em>, Venice 2001).
