Gianmario Guidarelli is an architectural and urban historian whose research focuses on Italian medieval architecture and Renaissance Venetian architecture. He is an adjunct professor at the Università degli Studi di Padova and a research fellow and adjunct professor of Early Christian and Medieval Art at Studium Generale Marcianum (Venice), where he coordinates the project “Chiese di Venezia. Nuove prospettive di Ricerca.” He has published a book on the architecture of the Scuola Grande di San Rocco in Venice and several articles about the urban and architectural history of Venice, religious architecture in the Renaissance, and the Cathedral of Naples, which was the topic of his PhD dissertation. He has edited “Storia e narrazione: retorica, memoria, immagini” (2005, with Carmelo G. Malacrino) and “La chiesa di San Salvador: storia arte teologia” (2007).

Guidarelli graduated in Architecture from the Università Iuav di Venezia in 2002 and, after earning a PhD in architectural and urban history at the School of Advanced Studies in Venice, worked as a teaching assistant at Duke University (NC), taught at the Università Iuav di Venezia, and held seminars at the Università degli studi di Bergamo and the Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa.
