Martina Massaro is a doctoral candidate in History of the Arts at the Scuola dottorale interateneo Ca’ Foscari-Iuav and a research fellow at the Università Iuav di Venezia. She graduated in Art History and Conservation of Artistic Heritage with honors from the Università Ca’ Foscari in Venice, with a thesis on Eugenio Bosa’s Drawings Legacy at Correr Museum in Venice. Her doctoral dissertation, titled Giacomo Treves dei Bonfili (1788-1885) collector and patron. The collection of a philanthropist patriot, discusses the contents of the collection, the processes that initiated its formation, and collector’s own circumstances. Massaro is working on Visualizing Venice’s Ghetto project. Her research interests include the study of collections and their collectors during the 18th and 19th century, as a subject open to multidisciplinary interaction with social and economic history, focused in particular on the Jewish community.
