In Visualizing Venice: In Visualizing Venice: In Visualizing Venice: Researcher Laura Moure Cecchini is a PhD candidate in the department of Art, Art History and Visual Studies at Duke University. Her research focuses on Italian Modernism, and the intersections between philosophy, art history, and art practice in the late 19th and early 20th century. In particular, she is interested in the contested re-appropriation of the Baroque under Fascism, both as a model for propaganda art and architecture, and as an alternative to the classicizing dominant aesthetic. She is also interested in the artistic and cultural exchanges between Italy and Latin America, in particular Mexico and Argentina. Laura has a B.A. in Philosophy from Universidad Iberoamericana (Mexico City), and a M.Phil. in Philosophy from National Autonomous University of Mexico (Mexico City).
